1.20Does anyone have BKR brand laminate flooring. Thinking about buying this brand. Any suggestions would help.?
Q.I debating on laminate flooring. BKR has caught my eye but i have never heard of it. What brand of laminate is best? 8mm or 12mm. Going on a wood floor in an old house. Ripping up carpet and tile. BKR has the underlayment already attached and the installer said he would put down a moisture barrier. This is just adding up quickly and I want to make sure i get a good brand that will last a long time.
A.The most well known brands of laminate are quik-step, & pergo. The thicker the better. If I were you I would have the real wood floors refinished. Real wood is much more durable, you won't have to buy the new flooring, and wood will add more value to your house. If the wood floor has already been refinished too many times and can't be refinished again, then maybe consider engineered wood flooring. It has a layer of real wood, it will feel more solid than laminate, it looks better, and it can be refinished when it gets worn.
1.10Carpet or wood flooring?
Q.Im getting ready to replace the berber carpet through out my house and cant decide if I want carpet or wood flooring. My kitchen, entry way and both bathrooms have newly installed ceramic tile. Which would be better carpet or wood floors?
A.Wood ,with a nice rug on top
1.00How much would it cost to wood flooring?
Q.To do a 14 ft by 14 ft room [estimate]
all together just an estimate
[my family's friend owns a wood flooring company]
A.Depending on the type of wood
6.50 to 10.00 per sq ft.
$1200 to $2000
1.00I want to get wood flooring to replace my carpet, but I have two dogs.?
Q.The dogs are medium and large. I'm afraid they will scratch the surface. Is there an indestructable wood or simulated wood product on the market?
A.The laminate flooring works great. It is easier to install, is stronger than wood for floors, & does not need to be refinished. When buying, check for thickness of the color.
It will also help if you keep your dogs nails trimmed.
1.00Pergo wood floor installers?
Q.Does anyone know of a company that will install pergo wood flooring cheaper then Lowes or Home Depot? They want $5 per square ft to install when it only costs $3.50 square ft for the wood.
A.I'm installing my own laminate wood flooring. That is my way of solving that problem. And it's going in beautifully, with no difficulty.
1.00What is the best way to level a floor in preparation to install wood floors?
Q.Trying to prepare a particle board floor over a sub-floor for wood flooring. very un-level. Should I tear up the particle board or use floor leveler products?
A.Best fix is to tear out existing sub flooring and replace with a new T&G (tongue and groove) flooring system, screw and glue with sub floor glue, may have to shim it in places, but you can do the same to the existing flooring by shimming it, glue it and screwing it, but this take some talent or experience and only if you have access to the underneath side. If the new wood flooring is a free floating/laminate you can get floor levelor at your nearest home improvement store they will explain how to use it.
1.00What are some flooring companies?
Q.For tile and wood flooring? What are their prices?
A.Www.lumberliquidators.com for wood and wood laminate floors...
Tile.. gosh google it ...for ceramic tile....a bzillion of tile places.
1.00Can you place wood flooring on an uneven floor?
Q.There is a long hallway in my house I'd like to have wood flooring. but my contractor says that at the end of the hallway there is a slight incline. he says wood flooring would have to stop there and be replaced with carpet. esthetically I think it would look awful. is what he says true or is there another way to keep it all wood?
A.Hardwood floor installation can be slowed by an uneven subfloor. Before installing hardwood floors, use a straight edge to find the humps and dips in the subfloor. Then, using a floor leveling compound or asphalt shingles, shim the dips so the floor is level.

Certain species are not advised for use in certain parts of the country. Your formal living room will be accented by a darker color of wood, while kitchens and family rooms need wood flooring that is of a lighter shade, and not a dark or bleached wood floor. Take in to consideration the thicknesses and widths of the boards or planks. For instance, a natural oak wood floor is called by dozens of different names in the flooring industry.
Although hard wood floors are more competitively priced than in the past, you will still find that they are one of the more expensive choices in flooring material. Generally the higher the quality of the wood, the greater the price. If your budget does allow for high quality wood flooring, consider it a great investment in your home. Wear flat and practical shoes inside the house, and avoid walking around on stilettos. Never use ordinary floor cleaners, and always rely on your manufacturers' cleaning instructions for hard wood floor care.
